Recently, the founding conference of the Green Ammonia Green Alcohol Industry Alliance was held in Kunming, Yunnan, officially announcing the unveiling and establishment of the alliance. In order to promote the integration of the upstream and downstream industrial chains of green ammonia and green alcohol, as well as to achieve coordinated development with the traditional synthetic nitrogen and methanol industries, and in accordance with the requirements of relevant industry enterprises, after research by the association's secretariat, the 7th Fifth Council Meeting of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association approved the establishment of the "Green Ammonia and Green Alcohol Industry Alliance" (hereinafter referred to as the "Alliance").

It is reported that there are currently 57 member units in the alliance, of which 34 enterprises are council units. After fully considering factors such as industry impact and contribution, and soliciting the willingness of relevant enterprises, the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association has been determined as the chairman unit of the alliance, and 7 units including CNOOC Chemical Co., Ltd., State Power Investment Group Smart Energy Investment Co., Ltd., Henan Xinlianxin Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., CRRC Corporation Limited, Shengu Group Co., Ltd., Tsinghua Strait Research Institute New Energy Development Research Center, and Jiangsu Andefu Energy Development Co., Ltd. have been elected as vice chairman units of the alliance.

According to the election of the Alliance Member Conference, Gu Zongqin, Chairman of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Green Ammonia Green Alcohol Industry Alliance, Li Songtao, Deputy Chief Engineer and General Manager of the Science and Technology Information Department of CNOOC Chemical Co., Ltd., Bai Lichao, Chairman of the Smart Energy Investment (Carbon Asset Management Company) of State Power Investment Group, Gu Chaohui, Chief Engineer of Henan Xinlianxin Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., Liu Jianxun, General Manager of the Industrial Development Division of CRRC Corporation Limited, Ma Zhihong, Deputy General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer of Shengu Group Co., Ltd., Zheng Dayong, Director of the New Energy Development Research Center of Tsinghua Haixia Research Institute, and Chen Wei, General Manager of Jiangsu Andefu Energy Development Co., Ltd. are all Vice Chairmen.

Su Jianying (resident), Director of the Industrial Development Department and Secretary General of the Ammonium Nitrate Branch of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, serves as the Secretary General. Sun Shaohua, Deputy Director of the Industrial Development Department and Secretary General of the Methanol Branch of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association (resident), Professor level Senior Engineer Wen Qian from the Energy and Chemical Engineering Department of the Petroleum and Chemical Industry Planning Institute, and Senior Engineer Meng Lei, Director of the Brand Department and Marketing Department of the Turbine Company of Shengu Group, are the Deputy Secretaries General.

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to actively and steadily promote carbon peak and carbon neutrality, advance clean and low-carbon transformation, and accelerate the construction of a new energy system. The vigorous development of new energy in China has driven the rapid growth of the green electricity and green hydrogen industry, and green ammonia and green alcohol as energy storage media have received widespread attention. In addition, the coupling development of new energy with the synthetic ammonia and methanol industries is an important way for the synthetic ammonia and methanol industries to achieve green and low-carbon development.

Gu Zongqin pointed out that establishing an alliance is necessary for implementing the dual carbon goals and also in response to the rapid development of new energy. China is the country with the largest carbon dioxide emissions in the world, with an annual emission of over 10 billion tons. Synthetic ammonia and methanol have an annual emission of 400 million tons, accounting for about 40% of the total chemical industry. The industry faces enormous pressure to save energy and reduce carbon emissions, and low-carbon development is an inevitable choice for industry transformation and upgrading. In recent years, China's new energy has developed rapidly, and the proportion of wind and solar power in the installed structure has increased rapidly. Ammonia and methanol, as carriers of green electricity and green hydrogen, have more advantages in storage and transportation, so a large number of green ammonia and green alcohol projects are planned and constructed. At present, the registered production capacity of electrolytic water to methanol projects in China has reached 4.48 million tons per year, and the production capacity of green electricity to synthetic ammonia projects has reached 5.17 million tons per year.

However, the green ammonia green alcohol industry is still in its early stages of development, with project construction mostly in the feasibility study and planning stage. Issues such as production economy and system stability still need to be resolved, and effective connections between upstream and downstream supporting facilities have not been established. Due to the involvement of different industries and enterprises, in order to better regulate industry development, solve common problems, promote the formulation of relevant industrial policies and standards, it is urgent to establish a green ammonia green alcohol industry alliance, strengthen guidance and organizational coordination work, and provide good services for promoting the healthy development of green ammonia green alcohol.

It is reported that the Alliance is a non permanent organization of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association. It is a non-profit social group voluntarily initiated and established by green ammonia and green methanol production enterprises, traditional synthetic nitrogen methanol production enterprises, technical equipment supporting units, ammonia alcohol storage and transportation enterprises, downstream demand enterprises, relevant colleges and universities, and research institutes to serve the green ammonia and green methanol industries. Its purpose is to promote the coordinated development of the green ammonia and green alcohol industry, actively implement the national dual carbon strategy, focus on the advantages of industry university research resources in the fields of new energy and chemical engineering, achieve interdisciplinary, cross industry, and cross departmental collaborative innovation, resource integration, promotion and application, exchange and cooperation, and create a new platform for domestic cooperation in the new energy and chemical industries.
